The Joy of Living Fellowship Center, formally known as the Joy of Living Church of God was founded by Bishop Eustace and Evangelist Iris Douglas in 1989. The original church home of the Joy of Living Fellowship Center was at 5400 Southern Blvd. in West Palm Beach, Florida. The church began with eleven (11) parishioners. However after a short time they realized that the location was not suitable place for worship; so they decided to look for a more appropriate location. Although Bishop and Mrs Eustace Douglas did not have much money to purchase a building, because they had just moved from New Jersey where they pastored another congregation; however, they went ahead by faith and looked for a building. His brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jepta and Miram Stewart believed in their vision to start a church, so they loaned them Ten Thousands ($10,000.00) to help with the purchasing of a building without having to sign any papers.
The struggles have been rough and hard, but they knew that was what God wanted them to do, and God did see them through by allowing them to purchase a property to start a work for Him. In 1991 with the help of a real estate agent, they was able to acquired building at 455 N Haverhill Road, where they had the confirmation in the beginning of starting this ministry. Prior to the week before they moved into this building, two Evangelist visited them from Fort Myers and told them that the Lord sent them to help in this ministry. They said that they did not have a lot of time, however they would do some advertising for them. These two Evangelist then got Pastor Douglas on the radio. For approximately two to three days The Joy of Living Church was being advertised on the radio, Pastor Douglas then began preaching on the radio where he continued for over three years. The church then began to grow by the help of God. Bishop Douglas then saw the need to construct a new building,
